Ideas for holidays, weekends and trips in Lomme and its surroundings

As part of French Flanders, Lille has a rich cultural heritage, which you can explore during your visit to the city. The Palais des Beaux Arts (Lille Museum of Fine Arts) is a great place to start. Built in the late 19th century, this 22, 000 square metre museum boasts one of the largest permanent collections in France, rivalling the Louvre in Paris. Its collections feature works by well-known European painters, as well as sculptures, exhibits and ceramics from the 17th and 18th centuries. Less than four kilometres away is the childhood home of General Charles de Gaulle. The house, which is a now historic monument, commemorates the life of one of France's greatest statesmen. Lille is also home to many impressive architectural landmarks, the most famous of which is perhaps its Citadel. This imposing pentagonal complex has a perimeter of more than 2000 metres and is currently used by the French army. Another noteworthy site is Our Lady of the Trellis Cathedral. It is built in gothic style and has a façade marked by a 30 meter-tall pointed arch, covered in sheets of marble. Additionally, Lille offers a number of green spaces for outdoor activities during your stay at the Premiere Classe Lille Ouest – Lomme hotel, such as the Botanical Gardens of the Pharmacy School, the Lille Plant Garden and the Lille Zoological Park, adjacent to the Citadel.
